Boo Feinstein.

Feinstein has called for the Democrats to seat Burris. What a goon.

Or maybe I'm wrong, and bucking the state rule on the Senate appointment would be a bad precedent to set, and or illegal? What does anyone think/know? I know nothing, except that from afar this is really still very funny.

i think its fair to say that you won't seat him because the secretary of state didn't give him his stamp of approval. but at the same time, i also think its fair to say that the secretary of state's reasoning for not approving him is bull, a "blago-taint" (if you will) isn't a valid and legal reason for rejecting him. i also don't like that democrats are citing the "blago-taint". they should be citing the secretary of state's rejection because that's clearly what the rules say, and make no comment about whether the sec of state's reasoning was sound or not. burris is right, he has an obligation to the people of illinois as our legally appointed senator. i personally like it when my politicians follow the rules.

but yea, its quite the soap opera, and it provides a brief escape about what's happening in Gaza. i said, brief, so i'm gonna go back to worrying and in true agnostic fashion, kinda sorta pray to maybe no one/deeply hope for world peace, then go to some protests this week and obsessively read and listen to the news.

i rescind. so, i guess the approval of il's sec of state isn't necessary, its just "preferred". no one should talk about blago-taint, they should just cite the rules. however, in two years, we might be in danger of electing a republican jr. senator.
